Pebeo Crackling Effect Modeling Paste is a heavy textured, ready-to-use, opaque paste to work in dimension and obtain impastos with a crackle effect. It is ideal for a cracked effect that is out of the ordinary! It is designed to help you achieve a crackled effect when used alone or in combination with acrylic paint colours (75% modeling paste / 25% colour). Depending on the thickness of the layer, it is also possible to control the crackling amount.

A 100 ml tube of undercoat and a 250 ml tube of the modeling paste are included in the Crackling Effect Modeling Paste.

Application involves an easy two-step process. Apply phase 1 (undercoat) with a brush onto the desired surface in thin coats to increase the adhesion of the paste and encourage crackling. Allow it to dry for about 15 minutes. Then apply the pasty consistency phase 2 (modelling paste) with a painting knife on top of the dry phase 1. It will react with the base to create the desired effect. Phase 2 may be applied alone, or in combination with Studio Acrylics colours (75% Modelling paste / 25% colour). The thicker phase 2 is applied, the more cracks there will be. The drying time can vary from 1 to 3 hours depending on the thickness applied. Clean the tools with water before the paste dries onto it.
