Pebeo Porcelaine 150 paints are water based, deep and glossy, transparent or opaque, ready-to-use, excellent lightfast, intermixable colours with a superb enamelled appearance after baking. Porcelaine 150 can be applied to porcelain, earthenware, ceramic and most bases that can withstand a temperature of 150°C (300°F). The choice of base and tools allows for producing numerous effects, transparencies and intensities of colours. However, “Pyrex”, “Arcopal” or equivalent-type supports should not be used.

Porcelaine 150 is available in 55 colours in 45 ml bottles including 11 shimmer colours and 1 chalkboard black, 10 Relief Outliners in 20 ml tubes, 9 colours in fine tip markers and 9 colours in bullet tip markers. The range includes 11 shimmering colours, with twinkling and iridescent effects, particularly opaque and covering. The Porcelaine 150 outliners, in a tube with nozzle, can be used for outlining work and containing colours. These professional quality, water based paints blend beautifully with one another and thin with water or Porcelaine 150 thinner. Many of the transparent and semi-transparent colours, as shown in the colour charts, appear quite dark. Names of colours often reflect the special qualities that colours take on when light passes through.

There are a few major differences between Vitrea 160 and Porcelaine 150. Vitrea sets / fixes to the surface at 160°C, while Porcelaine sets at 150°C. Vitrea 160 offers more of a blown / fused glass look. They are more fluid and mix easier than Porcelaine. In the case of Vitrea colours, individual colours seem to have many swirling colours inside, whereas Porcelaine colours are more solid. Vitrea and Porcelaine colours are not intermixable.

We recommend that you use a soft, natural / synthetic fibre brush, such as Pebeo Iris, Princeton VelveTouch, Escoda Ultimo, Escoda Prado, Escoda Versatil, Princeton Miniature or any of the soft bristle brushes available on our website.

Many application methods are possible with Porcelaine 150 : with brushes, sponges, or stencils. Porcelaine 150 paints are non-toxic but it is not recommended for use on surfaces that come in contact with food. Stir the product with a mixing stick before use, particularly Porcelaine 150 Chalkboard Black, which is a product you can write on with chalk. Colours can be applied directly to a grease free base, cleaned with alcohol or soap and water. After applying the paint, allow it to dry for 24 hours. Then, place the painted object in a cold home oven. Once a temperature of 150°C (300°F) is reached, bake for 35 minutes. The colours then take on a real enamelled aspect and become resistant to dishwashing, alcohols, solvents and normal detergents. For a better resistance / durability, use dishwasher ECO programme and place in top rack. Do not scrub with metal scrubbers or 3M Scotch Brite like abrasive scrubs pads / sponges. The Porcelaine paints can also be coated onto surfaces for decorative purposes. Instead of baking, simply paint the surface and allow it to dry for 72 hours to be used as an artwork. Always clean brushes with soapy water before and after use.
