Pebeo Artist Acrylics Gesso or a primer is essential for proper preparation of the surface to be painted. It gives a toothy or textured surface which ensures proper adhesion of paint layers on the surface. It can be applied onto all painting surfaces. It is particularly important when using oil paints on an acrylic base. There are also gessoes which give a smooth surface instead of a textured look.

The choice of Gesso depends on the colour of the surface you want. Apply it to a clean, non-greasy surface. The right gesso is a particular trade-off, in which the properties of both the paint and the surface matter. In general, prior to starting the artwork, it is advisable to always pre-test on the selected media.

One Coat Gesso - Opaque, lightly matt, white coloured primer. 

Transparent Gesso - It is a transparent, lightly matt primer. It dries rapidly and gives a light matt finish.
